INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY #2-Information Technology Hardware & Software Replacement

First starting out, I was not exactly sure what information technology actually meant and I just assumed it was the search engines on a computer but boy was I wrong. Information technology is so much more than being able to access journals for a research paper. Information technology refers to:

• telephone and radio equipment and switches used for voice communication
• computer applications; data storage, programs to input, process and output data
• software; word processing, spreadsheets
• server hardware and software used to support computer applications
• data, voice, and video networks
• scanners, printers

In class, Henry passed around deconstructed desk top computers, iPhones, and laptops. It was amazing to see all of the teeny tiny parts that make up a giant network of infinite possibilities. I really enjoyed watching what a hard drive (a storage device that handles reading, writing, and storage of data) looks like when it is working because I have never had the opportunity to see what it looks like when it is taken a part.
